Holmfirth is a picturesque little town, just outside Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Its an ideal location for a tattoo studio as it is centrally located between Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester and easily reached from Cheshire, Liverpool, the Midlands, North Yorkshire and surrounding areas. My tattoo studio is located 5 minutes outside Holmfirth Town Centre in a quiet village with ample parking. No need to battle busy inner city traffic.
Probably best known as the location for the vintage comedy “Last of The Summer Wine”, the countryside around Holmfirth is beautiful and perfect for walking. The town itself has many nice shops, pubs and restaurants. Many clients, if coming from a long distance, book into one of the local hotels and make a mini-break of their visit. The establishments below come recommended by clients who have visited.
Places to stay
The Bridge Inn
Recently refurbished so nice and fresh. Centrally located. Beer garden area outside the front to sit and have a drink on a sunny day and watch the world go by.
The Huntsman
Nice pub and accommodation and food. A little further away [10-15 minutes to my studio] Can get a bit wild in winter as its up on the moor but stunning views and cosy fires with armchairs.
Red Lion Pub – Jackson Bridge
Just down the road from my studio. Basic local pub with simple but nice food, good accommodation, atmosphere and a fine range of beers. Nice landlords. Highly recommended by clients who stayed there.
The Old Brewhouse Air B&B
Run by my lovely friend Jez and a really nice little self contained accommodation. It is up a very steep hill though if you have any trouble walking but perfectly located for both Holmfirth town centre and my Studio.
Holmfirth campsite
Highly rated local campsite nestled in the valley just outside Holmfirth [within walking distance.] Takes motorhomes and has glamping pods.
Places to eat and drink
The Winking Stag
Town centre bar with food. Lovely cocktails and a great atmospheric cellar lounge. Great Veggie options.

Beautifully cooked Tapas & Mediterranean dishes. Can get a bit busy at peak times but always a great atmosphere and delicious food. Great Veggie options.
The Fox House
Nicely refurbished traditional Inn. Huge portions of well cooked food. Ten minutes outside Holmfirth.
Places to visit
Digley Reservoir
Picturesque and fairly easy to walk around reservoir [approx 1 hour] Perfect for dogs.
Holme Styes Reservoir
Frequent “Last of The Summer Wine” locations. You can walk up through the woods to the abandoned village HADES. Great for dogs.
Holmfirth Vineyard
Holmfirth does have a vineyard producing excellent local wine. Open for tours, food and afternoon tea.
